How many people use each platform in Mauritius
Two independent sources, two methods. DataReportal reports the advertising audience each platform declares, mostly adults aged 18 and over. NapoleonCat counts users of all ages in its own August 2026 estimate, which is why its Facebook figure is higher. Both agree on the order: Facebook first by a distance, then Messenger, LinkedIn and Instagram.

What these numbers mean for a Mauritian SME
- Facebook is still the default channel. With more than 85% of adults reachable, it is where local enquiries, bookings and WhatsApp messages come from for most small businesses.
- Instagram is the visual second channel. Four in ten adults, mostly 25 to 34 and evenly split between men and women: right for food, fashion, beauty, home and lifestyle brands.
- LinkedIn is bigger than most owners think. Around six in ten adults have a profile, which makes it the obvious channel for B2B services, recruitment and professional firms.
- TikTok is the growth channel. No official audience figure is published for Mauritius, but in our campaigns it is the fastest growing platform for under 35s and currently cheaper per view than Facebook because few local businesses bid.
- Messenger and WhatsApp are where sales close. Almost every ad we run for an SME sends people to a conversation, not a website.
Ad cost benchmarks from our own campaigns
These are the working figures we publish across our guides, drawn from the Meta campaigns InfluenceUP runs for Mauritian SMEs. They are ranges, not promises: your offer and your reply speed move them more than anything else.
| Benchmark | Figure | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum to test Facebook ads | from about Rs 200 a day | Enough to boost a post, not enough for a campaign to learn |
| Working minimum for a leads or messages campaign | Rs 8,000 to Rs 15,000 a month | Below about Rs 6,000 a month Meta cannot gather enough results to learn who responds |
| Cost per WhatsApp lead | Rs 40 to Rs 400 | Gyms, salons and restaurants at the low end; solar, property and B2B at the high end |
| Best objective for an SME | Messages or Leads | Traffic campaigns buy clicks, boosting buys likes |
